Miami Film Office Changes
Robert Parente, Director of the City of Miami film office for the past six years, has left that position as of Monday, March 1. Mr. Parente contributed a great deal of creativity and passion for the production industry during his tenure in the office, and was instrumental in securing the Dinner Key Auditorium as the home for the hits USA series “Burn Notice,” among his many accomplishments. Mr. Parente’s watch also included many feature films having been produced in Miami, including “Marley and Me,” “Bad Boys,” “Miami Vice,” “Dostana” and “2 Fast 2 Furious.”
Taking over as Director for the Office is Harry Emilio Gottlieb. Mr. Gottlieb brings more than 30 years of media experience to the job, with a background in TV, radio, print, marketing, sales and public and community relations. He served on the executive committee of the Miami International Film Festival during its early years, and has served on the Miami Code Enforcement Board. Mr. Gottlieb is a longtime community activist in the Coconut Grove area and has championed many efforts to improve the City. He is committed to working closely with members of the industry and his colleagues within the City to build on successes already achieved to make Miami an even more vital media and filmmaking destination.
